How to install AcoustiSlat acoustic slat panels
The panels are lightweight and slot seamlessly together, and most walls and ceilings are a weekend job, much simpler than traditional timber cladding. How you fit them matters, though: coverage, room layout and fixing method all move the acoustic result, which is why the methodology below is worth reading before you start.
The five steps
- Measure. Width × height of your wall or ceiling. The panel calculator works out how many panels you need, as the sum differs for a wall under 2790mm, a wall over 2790mm and a ceiling.
- Pick your finish and request quotation. Oak is held in stock; Walnut and Fresno Mystic are produced to order, and further colours are available on request.
- Trim. Trim panels to size using a circular saw or equivalent.
- Mount. Fix to the wall, ceiling or suitable substrate (such as drywall, brick or concrete) using construction adhesive or screws.
- Listen. Stand back. The room looks warmer and sounds calmer.
Installation methodology
Acoustic performance is not a property of the panel alone. The published sound absorption value of up to αw = 0.95 is measured under European standard test conditions; what you achieve in a real room depends on three things:
- Coverage. How much of the room's hard surface area is treated.
- Room layout. Volume, ceiling height, and what the other surfaces are made of.
- Installation method. Whether the panel is bonded directly to the substrate or mounted on battens with an air cavity behind it, which changes low-frequency behaviour.

Substrates and fixings
Panels can be glued with construction adhesive or screwed to a substrate or soffit on most walls and ceilings. For overhead applications, and anywhere the substrate is uncertain, mechanical fixing is the safer choice. If you are unsure what is behind the surface, ask us rather than guessing.
